With nothing newsworthy taking place in the Gaza Strip in recent weeks, reporters covering the territory have finally had the chance to binge hit HBO show “Game of Thrones.”

After months of constantly reporting on every Israeli action in Gaza, reporters said they were pleasantly surprised to find that the latest series of protests were not against Israel at all.

“Honestly, when I heard that a Palestinian writer had his fingers smashed and that civilians were being beaten on the streets, I thought, ‘Great, now I am going to have to spend the next week writing dozens of articles about how evil Israel is, and I’ll have no time to catch up on GOT,” one Al Jazeera writer told The Mideast Beast. “When I found out it was Hamas doing the beating, it was such a relief. I’m like three seasons behind.”

Most reporters said that they plan to use the slow news period to get up to date on the fantasy drama before the final season begins next month.

“I just hope that Hamas and the Palestinian People can keep this up until the season finale,” a writer for The Intercept said. “If Israel gets involved and I have to miss episodes to write about it, I am going to be so pissed.”
