Celebrities on coronavirus lockdown are proposing that the world “take a week of quarantine” every year to commemorate the “scary and unsettling” time they went through and the unique insights it has given them.

“I think that everyone should take a week of quarantine every year just to remember this time,” said British actor Idris Elba, who said he and his wife were lucky not to suffer serious symptoms of the virus. “Being on lockdown has definitely been a scary, unsettling and nervous time. I think that’s been like a real collected world experience. I am finally beginning to understand what it must be to experience, like, civil war in Syria, where people are literally trapped inside their bombed-out houses”.

Other celebrities agreed with the actor. “This has been hell’s waiting room”, said Ellen DeGeneres about the lockdown that she has been spending in her $27 million mansion complete with gym, an infinity pool that overlooks the ocean, as well as great place to air her show without having to pay her staff. “One thing that I’ve learned from being in quarantine is that this is like being in jail, is what it is,” she said. “This is the first time in my life that I can relate to the women who have been thrown in jails in Iran or Syria and I think that moment of awakening is definitely something that the world should commemorate with a self-imposed week-long quarantine every year.”
